Experience and Savour the Culture of Orkney through our Music & Festivals

Orkney’s musical traditions are deeply rooted in our history. Long before modern entertainment, communities gathered around peat fires to share stories, music, and song. This spirit of connection endures today, with a thriving calendar of festivals and a vibrant local music scene that is an integral part of island life.

Music education is also strong in Orkney. Children are introduced to instruments from a young age – it’s almost like a visit to Ollivander’s Wand Shop in Harry Potter, where the right instrument finds the right child!

Whether you visit for a day or a week, Orkney’s music will leave a lasting impression on your heart.
