This sample journey offers a flavour of what a bespoke day out with JP Orkney can look like. Led by your expert driver and guide, Paul Hudd, this private tour combines Orkney’s world-famous Neolithic landmarks, dramatic coastal views, rich birdlife, and local food experiences into an unforgettable day.
We’ll pick you up directly from the Stromness Ferry Terminal at 10:15, making it an ideal option for visitors arriving on the morning ferry from Scrabster. From there, your day will be carefully paced and tailored to your interests, with plenty of time to explore, photograph, and immerse yourself in the stories of this remarkable place.
🪨 Standing Stones of Stenness
Step back over 5,000 years with a guided tour of this striking 3100 BC henge monument site. Believed to be one of the oldest stone circles in Britain, it’s a breathtaking way to begin your day.
🌀 Ring of Brodgar
Explore this vast circle of standing stones set in a dramatic landscape dating back to 3000 BC. Once comprising 60 stones, 27 still stand tall today. As well as the archaeology, keep an eye out for curlews, oystercatchers, and skylarks (time of year dependant) – a treat for bird lovers.
🌊 Yesnaby Cliffs
Enjoy the raw beauty of Orkney’s west coast. These towering cliffs offer panoramic views across the North Atlantic. Depending on the season, you may spot puffins, Arctic terns, and Great Skuas, and if you’re lucky, the rare Primula Scotica in bloom.

Visit one of Europe’s best-preserved Neolithic villages, dating back to around 3100 BC. Enjoy a guided walk through the site, the immersive visitor centre, and reconstructed Neolithic house – all set against the backdrop of the wild Atlantic coast.
🏰 Birsay
Wind your way to the north-west tip of Orkney Mainland. Take in views of the tidal island of the Brough of Birsay, the impressive ruins of Earl’s Palace, and Links House, recently revitalised by The Pier Arts Centre. A scenic and peaceful way to round off your day.

Our luxury Mercedes Evito tour vehicle seats eight passengers. It is fully electric, so not only is it comfortable, it is quiet and environmentally friendly. It is fully licensed, has lots of luggage space and phone charging facilities.
We love sharing lots of useful and entertaining information about the sites, and as all our tours are private you will have your guide and our tour vehicle all to yourself.
Tours can be as active or relaxed as you like – we will work with you to create your perfect experience. We cater for everyone – families, couples, single travellers, small groups and corporate clients.
We make our own range of Orkney produce, so there are always lots of complimentary treats on board. Complimentary drinking water is always readily available.

Prices
As all our tours are tailor made, prices are on request. All prices are for the vehicle and guide, and include pick-ups and drop-offs for up to eight passengers. Lunches and entrance fees are extra.
