We agreed the itinerary in advance based on our priorities for the day and he did an excellent job scheduling the day. Paul is extremely knowledgable, friendly and a good time generally. The day began with the Port Authority who asked who we were touring with so that they could call vehicle to the pick up location. We said, “JP Orkney Tours.” The Port Authority worker replied with, “JP is fantastic. You have a good one.”

JP was equal parts of enthusiasm, pride for the area, knowledgeable, and loads of fun!

We had the best day! We opted to have lunch at JP Tour’s home. This was a fantastic addition to the day.

Professional and courteous, followed the itinerary we had agreed on, and his commentary added just the right touch of history and local culture to the experience. Not only is he an incredible tour guide who brings a wealth of knowledge about Orkney, he’s also incredibly kind and thoughtful. He made the day amazing for us even though it was cold and SUPER windy. He brought us to his home for an amazing homemade boxed lunch in his backyard greenhouse so we could relax and warm up. He also never once complained when almost the entire group from Maine fell asleep in his van on the ride to town after our bellies were full… I learned so much from him on our travels and hope to one day be back to visit and see how his business has grown! Thank you Paul! I just wish I had purchased more jam since it was delicious.

As all our tours are tailor made, prices are on request. All prices are for the vehicle and guide, and include pick-ups and drop-offs for up to eight passengers. Lunches and entrance fees are extra.

As featured in The Times

We were recently featured in The Times, following a tailored journey through Orkney’s wartime history. Here’s how Paul reflects on the day:

“I got speaking to Mark around four months before he came to visit in January 2026. He was planning a journey from London to the north of Scotland using the Caledonian Sleeper and wanted to research Orkney along the way.

Our green ethos, using a fully electric vehicle, really appealed to him. He’d also heard that we could offer a tour tailored to his interest in wartime history. After doing a bit more research, Mark was keen to explore even more of Orkney’s past, so I put together a day around that.

We run tours all year round, but in winter we do need to stay flexible, as the weather can be a bit more temperamental. Mark experienced this first-hand, with strong winds creating challenges for the ferry companies. This meant we weren’t able to cross some of the Churchill Barriers as planned, but as all our tours are private, we were able to adapt the day and work with the conditions.

When Mark’s return ferry was cancelled, we helped him find a hotel and rearranged his travel for the following day.

The day had an unexpected highlight too, as Mark’s arrival in Orkney hadn’t gone unnoticed. BBC Radio Orkney invited us in for a quick feature on their show, which made the whole experience even more memorable.”
