‘A perfect guided tour’
We visited Orkney specially to see the Neolithic sites and Paul was our guide. He is very knowledgeable about the sites, their excavations and findings. He designed a tour that was perfect for us fitting in with the tides and the limited access time to one of the sites. As well as showing us what we had come for, he also gave us a great tour of Orkney and showed us much of the lovely coastline, views of the other islands and beaches. Travel was in an electric people carrier, very comfortable, with a picnic lunch overlooking a beautiful sandy beach. The picnic included foods grown locally prepared by Paul and Jane. Yummy.
‘Special two days’
Six friends (including five seniors) had a fantastic two days with Paul as our island guide. He is charismatic, personable and highly knowledgeable. His enthusiasm for Orkney, its history and beauty shone through and was infectious. He took us to the famous and iconic but also to the incredible and little known. Cannot recommend highly enough. JP Orkney products are worth purchasing too.
‘What a fabulous day!’
Paul picked us up from our accommodation in his electric van, very good visibility from our seats.
We visited all the places recommended by Paul, from our previously advised interests.
Paul is charming, knowledgeable, and good fun. He gave us an appreciation for this wonderful area we would never find on our own. The tasty, casual lunch, provided by Jane, was perfect.
‘What a thrilling day we had’
We arrived by cruise ship on a Sunday and I’m glad there were no car rentals available because I would have missed out on so much history. Paul picked us up at the cruise port and had a sign for us. We stepped into his comfortable, electric Mercedes passenger van – one price for up to eight people. Paul is well educated and witty. He brings the past to life and knows this island like the back of his hand. I can’t recommend his tour enough, it is fantastic!
‘Paul was awesome!’
We weren’t sure we were going to Orkney till a few weeks before our cruise and Paul was more than happy to be our tour guide! He provided a very nice and clean vehicle, water for the passengers, snacks, and lots of information. He was very thoughtful, useful and funny. He even sent us home with jams and treats that he and his wife make as part of their business! SO AMAZING!
‘It was a perfect day’
We were on an 11-night cruise, and our stay in Orkney was the highlight of our entire trip! Paul was a wonderful guide and we loved exploring the islands with him. JP Orkney provided us with a delicious lunch, and because of the great weather we were able to enjoy this picnic overlooking the ocean. All in all it was a perfect day. Looking forward to our next visit, and having another tour with JP Orkney.
’Paul did an excellent job’
We did a full-day tour with Paul, the P in JP Orkney. As promised the four of us were picked up in his fully electric van at 9am and dropped back at our accommodation at 5pm. We didn’t regret trusting the first day of our three-day stay in Orkney with Paul. He did an excellent job explaining the highlights of Neolithic Orkney, putting the key sites in context, but also including a short walk along impressive Atlantic cliffs and a visit to an Iron-Age broch. We left with a recommended tour list for our final two days on the island and a goody bag with tasty local treats.
‘So knowledgeable, and a lovely locally sourced lunch’
We had the best day with Paul! We visited Kirkwall for the day as part of a cruise up to Iceland. Paul took time to get to know us all and was just brilliant the whole day long. He was so knowledgeable about the places we visited and provided us with a lovely locally sourced lunch containing food that he and his wife produce. If you’re visiting Orkney I highly recommend Paul to show you around.
‘Thank you Paul for the perfect visit’
I waited to post this until our three-week British Isles and Northern Europe cruises were complete. After visiting 20 locations, hands down, JP Orkney provided the best shore tour for the entire trip. From the very start of planning our excursion, I was impressed. Their website is well done, Paul was prompt in all of his communications, and he provided an excellent list of sites to see. When we arrived at the port he was there waiting for us. We visited a multitude of sites and he was always patient as I took pictures of everything. He was very knowledgeable about the sites as well as answering our constant questions about the Kirkwall area. And to round it off, he made sure we were back to the ship in plenty of time. Kirkwall is a beautiful place to visit and I could even imagine living there. Thank you Paul for the perfect visit, and the jam was excellent. Bravo!
‘The gift bag was a really nice touch’
I visited Orkney this summer and had a great tour with JP Orkney. The electric tour vehicle was super quiet and comfortable. Paul was an excellent guide and really helped bring to life the sites we visited. The lunch was tasty and the gift bag at the end was a really nice touch.
‘We found Paul to be knowledgeable, charming and kind’
During a cruise stop on Orkney we had a wonderful shore excursion with JP Orkney. Paul picked us up at the port in his nine-person electric van. He took us to many sites on Orkney such as St Magnus Cathedral, the Churchill Barriers, the Italian Chapel, Standing Stones of Stenness, Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae, and Birsay Earl’s Palace. Paul included an amazing picnic lunch which included items from their own produce and homemade treats. We found Paul to be knowledgeable, charming and kind. He didn’t need to but he helped my wife look for seashells, and made sure we were taken care of during our time with him. Thank you JP Orkney for making our too brief visit to Orkney very memorable.
‘The pace of the day was really good’
Our tour was a real highlight of the trip. Very knowledgeable and friendly, Paul shuttled us around in a comfortable and fully electric people carrier, showing us around some of the important sights on mainland Orkney and bringing them to life with lots of interesting information. The pace of the day was really good, and the spot he identified for lunch was a hit with our group. We had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
